02/12/10: These comments are directed at the SERVICE DEPARTMENT only. The sales people are GREAT, and this is the place I'll by my next Subaru from. For repairs, I have yet to find a competent dealership in the greater Boston area.
The service department at Cityside Subaru is a complete disaster. They don't return calls, take forever to order parts, don't call when parts arrive, tell you everything is up to spec - even when it clearly isn't. They'll waste your time, and have you come back, even for trivial things. I'm not sure if they're disorganized or just don't care, but as hard as my wife and I tried to like them (mostly, because of the great sales department), we're very disappointed.
My Legacy GT 2.5 had a problem which was not easy to diagnose, but Citycide, and three other dealerships kept telling me that everything was up to spec, when it was clear that the car had a problem. This was one of those fan running "almost" all the time, rough idling, stuttering problems.
Finally, it was a SOA factory representative that visited the dealership, and a call from SOA asking me to bring the car there that identified the problem immediately. That was a problem that I've been trying to fix for two years and several dealership visits, and it was only thanks to SOA that it got fixed. Kudos to SOA, and complete incompetence on the part of Metrowest, Clair and Cityside Subaru dealerships. I feel sorry for people who need service for anything that isn't obvious. Where do you bring your car?

02/16/10: Cityside is not only incompetent, but fraudulent. They claimed they replaced part on my car (under warranty), which they did not (coolant tank... the replacement was strangely just as dirty as the rest of the engine). When questioned they told me "we removed the part from another customer's car to get you on the road right away" |

03/14/10: This also pertains only to the service center - Nathan White of Sales was awesomely laid back. The service center has never quite done what I asked them to do. When we first picked up the car, the wheel well shields were poorly installed. The latest visit involved a request at the time of appointment booking to repair/replace an external light. Despite the advance warning, the part had not been ordered, so I was told to come back when it was available. Not convenient! It is a shame, because I would like to be able to trust the OEM mechanics, but really, I have been given no reason to! |
