We second that vote for this movie! It is utterly vapid, the characters are funny but don't really have any redeeming value, and that doesn't matter! My favorite line was John Cusack saying "I hate that decade" referring to the 80s. For the middle aged who lived the era, this is a thoroughly enjoyable romp.
We did not have high expectations for this- just wanted vapid entertainment. But gosh darn it, it was a hoot! I usually get tired of slapstick-filled comedy, but this one seemed to balance it nicely with actual characters. All in all, we will see this one again!
If you like Renaissance music and Werner Herzog, this is the doc to watch. Carlo Gesualdo, known as Gesualdo da Venosa (March 8, 1566 – September 8, 1613), Prince of Venosa and Count of Conza, was an Italian music composer, lutenist and nobleman of the late Renaissance. He also led a pretty freaky life, so he is right up Herzog's alley. This film is narrated by Herzog, and as usual he tries to include the words "dark" and "despair" in his descriptions as much as possible. There are s..
OK...so this one is a guilty pleasure. I had to watch it since it was partly set in 1986, the year I graduated high school. They got the retro feel and bad hair just right. Highly recommend.
I finally got around to watching Adam and found it very interesting. I have heard and read about Asperger's but seeing the movie gave me a much better understanding. It isn't much of a story, and there are lots of discussions about Asperger's so it is more like a documentary but very entertaining.
This was a fun, mostly predictable, but sweet way to spend a couple of hours. Elements of "Runaway Bride" in the self-discovery side, and "Someone Like You" for opposites-attract, verbal war of the sexes fun. On a funny note, we spent most of the time trying to figure out where the hunky orthopod character came from- he was the replacement DA in the "Moonlight" TV series... what a loss that that show is gone!!
I watched and amazingly listened to this on a long-haul flight- it was vapid enough to entertain, but most certainly not meant to inspire with plot, character development, or substance. Well, I think it tried for the substance, but really, why? Just a vehicle for album and merchandise sales, and that's OK :-)
