Subaru: Cityside Subaru - Bad

These comments are directed at the SERVICE DEPARTMENT only. The sales people are GREAT, and this is the place I'll by my next Subaru from. For repairs, I have yet to find a competent dealership in the greater Boston area. The service department at Cityside Subaru is a complete disaster. They don't return calls, take forever to order parts, don't call when parts arrive, tell you everything is up to spec - even when it clearly isn't. They'll waste your time, and have you come back, even for trivial things. ..

computers & high tech: DropBox - sync files online and across computers - Great

If you have more then one computer or some files that you'd want backed up, you will love dropbox. Here is a sample scenario. Install dropbox on your Mac, and once done, create a new document in the dropbox folder. Now, head over to your Windows, or Linux computer, install dropbox, and that same document will be in the same folder on that computer. Make a change to the document, and all the computers will be automatically synchronized. Yup, it works extremely well (I use it on Mac and Ubuntu). You get 2GB..

computers & high tech: TotalFinder - Great

Just about every browser I can think of has tabs - and there is a good reason for that (I often have more then 70 tabs open at one time). So, why can't a Finder (Mac's file browser) have tabs? ...well, now it can. Try TotalFinder - it's free and easy to install and use. Mac users have been asking for tabs in Finder for a very long time, but for whatever reason, Apple doesn't find that feature important. That, and the way it handles window resizing/moving.

doctors: Newtonville Dental Associates - Dr. Scott Helle, D.M.D - Great

I spent over thirty years of my life hating the thought of having to go see a dentist. The combination of sounds, the poor quality of my teeth and perceived lack of passion and genuine interest on the part of my past dentists, all contributed to my procrastinating. I’d still go, but only when it was obvious that I had to. Last December was one of those times. I was putting up with a tooth that would get infected on and off for over a year, and for that past month, the pain was getting worse. I drove to ..

TV shows: TopGear - Great

This was a completely random, Netflix instant view discovery - and I'm hooked. Even though I like cars, I didn't think that you could make a show this entertaining about cars. It is amazingly well done and funny - highly recommend checking it out. Here is a link to instant view, season 10 - episode 7 is hilarious! http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/Top_Gear_Series_10/70114335?strackid=c8c49d3dee08221_0_srl&strkid=2092727484_0_0&trkid=438381

Taxi and car rental: Newton Veterans Taxi - Good

I've been using these guys for about 6 years now, almost exclusively for trips to/from the airport. In the past six years, I had a few "interesting" drivers and rides, ...but overall, they show up on time to take me to the airport, and they get me there in one piece - so far. The pickup part can get tricky. I had flight delays, airport security makes them drive around, etc. ..so there have been a few times when I've had to wait, but it's still better then driving. Verdict: still the best way to ..
